Easter Reviews Roundup

Happy Easter, Hook Me Up! Gang! Well, it's not necessarily as exciting as cover reveals and new releases and the Yap (humor me), but I like to share the reviews with all y'all, and I'm terribly behind. So let's rectify that, shall we? We shall!

First up, though, a few more recent things. I and the rest of the Paranormal Romance Dream Team (aka Erin Quinn, Erin Kellison, and Caris Roane) will be doing a live chat over at Night Owl Reviews on Monday, March 28 (aka tomorrow) at 5pm Pacific / 6pm Mountain / 7pm Central / 8pm Eastern. You can RSVP HERE. The RSVP gives you entry into the evening's prizes (must be an active chatter at the event), and a reminder email around 30 minutes before the event starts. But you can still get prizes if you don't RSVP, so come one and come all! And, you know, someone might just score a copy of Plush Life early at the chat. And that someone could be you!

Speaking of Plush Life, a reminder that it's up for pre-order right now at Amazon and Smashwords and will go live on sale on this Friday, April 1.

The Kickstarter for Unidentified Funny Objects 5 is almost over, and we're not funded yet! Trust me, you want to get this next in a series of really fun and funny science fiction and fantasy shot stories, and not just because you'll want to find out what "The Problem With Poofs" is.

I went to see the Fall Out Boy concert on Friday and some of my pics made the arena's photo album. Once you've checked out all that fun, check out my review of My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 at Pop Culture Geeks

Then see which series Bibliognome and Books in Brogan are recommending.

Now, for all the catching up. Firstly, Barnes and Noble chose Alien in Chief as one of it's top picks for December, which was a pretty cool way to end last year! And because I'm running so very, very late, check out the rest of the December releases from DAW Books.

After that, see what Bibliognome thought of Alien in Chief, as well as what her Favorite Lines from the book were. Then check out what Feeling Fictional, Books, Movies, Reviews! Oh My!, and Under the Covers thought of it!

Next up, see what Xtreme Delusions thought of Alien Separation. Then see what Books, Movies, Reviews! Oh My! thought of Universal Alien. And then see what Blake's Gaming Adventures thought of Alien vs. Alien.

But we're not done yet! Next up, check out what Theresa Derwin's Terror Tree thought of Alien Tango, Alien in the Family, and Alien Proliferation. Then see what The Heroine Bookstore had to say about Alien Tango.

Not to be outdone, see the awesome review The Times-News gave to Touched by an Alien, as well as what Back Chatting Books thought of it. Plus, check out the Science Fiction Romance novels/series being recommended by Omni Reboot.

Matthew Bright reviews Two Hundred and Twenty-One Baker Streets, alligators and aneurysms reviews A Cup of Joe by moi writing as Anita Ensal, and Bibliognome gives you a sentence sneak peak and a review of Alexander Outland: Space Pirate by moi writing as G.J. Koch.

Amazingly enough, that's it for today. But as always, more's on the way. So let's be hard boiled egg enjoying readers out there and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

Working for the Weekend

Happy Friday!

Hope everyone had a fun, safe, and happy St. Patrick's day if you were indulging in all things Irish, and a great week regardless of celebrations! I'm still recovering from Tucson Festival of Books last weekend, which was great. Got to hang out with great authors, moderate a great panel with other great authors Judith Tarr, Jeffe Kennedy, Yvonne Navarro, and Beth Cato, and visit with tons of great Members of the Alien Collective in Very Good Standing. A fantabulous weekend all the way around!

I also had a dozen advanced copies of Plush Life on hand and do not have them anymore. So, congrats to those who scored the book early!

For the rest of you, the bookie wookie goes on sale everywhere on April 1 (and that's not an April Fools joke, either). And don't panic -- while the physical version up at Amazon says it's out of print, it's not -- it's just not available until April 1. The very important pre-orders are all available right now, however, at Amazon and Smashwords.

For some giggles and because tarot does figure into Plush Life, check out the Lisa Frank Tarot Cards over at Huffington Post and look closely at The Devil card. Apparently my reputation has reached Lisa Frank's ears. :-D (Kudos to Shawn Sumrall and Beth Vrabel for pointing this out.)

Speaking of pre-orders, don't forget to do your girl a solid and pre-order Camp Alien and Alien Nation from your favorite bookseller or online retailer today! Pre-orders matter as much as sales these days, and to keep a series going, and going strong, pre-orders are a must. You can also pre-order from bookstores you know I'll be visiting, in order to get said bookie wookies signed.

Speaking of Camp Alien, in its May issue RT Book Reviews says "...readers are in for more wildly over-the-top adventures that will be filled with edge-of-your-seat danger and wackiness!" So you know you don't want to wait to see what Kitty & Company are up to -- pre-order today!

I have lots of anthologies coming this year. And right now one of them needs your Kickstarter support. Check out Unidentified Funny Objects 5 which will feature the third installment of my Steampunk Alien series, "The Problem With Poofs". Lots of cool rewards are still available, including one last tuckerization from me, so if you want to be in an Alien series story (that, trust me, affects the main Alien series in ways that all y'all are going to discover as we move ahead into the upcoming books in the series), then now's your chance!

Speaking of Kickstarters and tuckerizations, the long-awaited MECH: Age of Steel anthology is about to roll out its Kickstarter. And I have a LOT of tuckerization options possible in my story, "Jaegermeister", including characters who are mech pilots and location naming rights. And, unlike most who tuckerize, I tend to not kill my tuckers but instead turn them into supporting characters who stick around for the long haul. And this is a story you want to be in. It's also kind of cool that the cover art looks like it could be taken from my story...just a hint to whet your appetites! So, keep the eyeballs peeled, because the MECH Kickstarter is going to kick off soon!

Last but not least, check out my review of Season Two of Galavant over at Slice of SciFi. Did you like it, too? Hated it? Aren't sure you want to check it out? Join the conversation over at Slice!

That's it for today, but as always, more's on the way. So let's be weekend enjoying, pre-ordering, and Kickstartering readers out there. Peace out, my li'l gangstas, and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

And Now For Something A Little Different...

Hey There! It's time for an announcement -- I have a brand new romantic suspense novel, Plush Life, coming April 1, 2016.

Lifelong friends Tom and Meggie must pretend to be married at a New Orleans retreat to land the make-or-break account their small company needs, but when Meggie is kidnapped by her ex-fiancé, more than just their business is endangered.

Plush Life is available for electronic pre-order right now at Amazon and Smashwords, so, pre-order it today! It will be available at BandN.com and in physical format on April 1.

Speaking of pre-orders, they're what matters tons and tons to authors (indie and traditional, and I'm both) and publishers. So, in addition to Plush Life, remember that pre-orders for Camp Alien and Alien Nation, from your favorite bookstore or online retailer, will be doing your girl a total solid. Also, pre-orders for alt.sherlock.holmes: Three New Visions of the World's Great Detective are also available right now. Physical format will be available for this, too, coming in April.

Remember that the Suvudu Cage Matches for 2016 are live now. Voting is open until Thursday, April 10th, so get your votes in for all the matches, but especially mine, Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg versus Mrs. Coulter and her daemon.

Remember also that the Kickstarter for Unidentified Funny Objects 5 is still going strong, and you can still get in on it. I still have one tuckerization hanging on -- will you be immortalized in "The Problem With Poofs"? Or will you just get an awesome anthology of funny SF/F before everyone else? Or some other award level, 'cause there are lots of them? Only you know, so head over and see what tickles your fancy!

That's it for today, but as always, more's on they way. So enjoy the week and let's be pre-ordering readers out there! Peace out, my li'l gangstas, and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

It's Time To Vote - For Characters You Can Believe In!

Happy Monday! It's a busy week this week, so let's get right to all the things going on today.

First up, the Suvudu Cage Match of 2016 has begun and Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg need your votes! There are plenty of other cage matches going on, too, so check them all out and have some fun!

Next, the Kickstarter for Unidentified Funny Objects 5 is still going strong. If you haven't pledged yet to get this cool anthology of funny science fiction and fantasy funded yet, don't miss out! There are lots of cool reward levels available and I still have one tuckerization left, so if you want to be in a story of mine, specifically in "The Problem With Poofs" set in my Steampunk Alien universe, it's time to head on over and take a looksee!

A reminder that the Tucson Festival of Books is happening this weekend. I'll be at Booth 108 for most of the weekend, but will be moderating the very cool Kick-Ass Women of Science Fiction panel on Saturday, March 12, 2:30pm to 3:30pm, Optical Sciences 410.

That's it for today, but as always, more's on the way. So let's be Cage Match voting and Kickstarter supporting readers out there! Peace out, my li'l gangstas, and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

So This Is Coming...

Happy Friday!

Just a quick one today, to let you know that the Suvudu Cage Match for 2016 is coming next week. This year it's duos taking on duos. And I'm representing! Not with Kitty and Company, but with Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. As all y'all know by now, this is my fave series and I adore Granny and Nanny, so I'm thrilled to have them as "mine" for this battle.

In the first bracket they're up against Mrs. Coulter and her daemon from the His Dark Materials series. I see Granny and Nanny winning handily, BUT in order for that to happen, YOU need to vote!

If Granny and Nanny win this round I'll be "following" them through to the next ones. So, if you want to see more takes on how I see the battles going, please vote for them! And, vote for your faves in all the other brackets, too! There's lots of chatter going on over at Tor.com about this, too, so if you've got thoughts about the battles, share them there, too!

That's it for today, so let's be Granny and Nanny voting readers out there! Peace out, my li'l gangstas, and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

Pop Culture and the Cosmos

Happy Thursday!

I know, I know -- two months of literal silence, and now you're hearing from me regularly again. Well, there's just a lot going on right now. Though, trust me, the Cone of Silence is going to descend again soon. But it's not fully covering me yet, so let's get to things, shall we? We shall!

Heading to the movies this weekend? Check out my review of Zootopia over at Slice of SciFi and see if it's right for you. Speaking of Slice, we're branching out and adding a sister site, Pop Culture Geeks. Which means that I and the other reviewers just got to add a whole lot of other movies into our reviewing queues.

So, check out the sleek new site and my reviews for Hail, Caesar!, Zoolander 2, Risen, and Race. And, as with Slice, if you agree, disagree, or want to discuss the movies, join in the conversation over at PCG!

After pop culture fun, it's time for some science! The New York Times shares that gravitational waves have been detected that confirm Einstein's theory. Per Earth/Sky there's also good evidence for a ninth planet -- no, not poor Pluto, but one that sounds quite a lot like what H.P. Lovecraft said was out there. And Space.com shares what Kitty and Company already know -- that our universe is just one of many.

Reminder that the Kickstarter for Unidentified Funny Objects 5 is going on right now. As of Day Three of the Kickstarter I have only one tuckerization left, so if you want to be a character in my Steampunk Alien series and get a role in "The Problem With Poofs", head over now. If you just want to get in and fund a really cool anthology so you get the book first, head over now. If you like funny science fiction and fantasy, head over now. Basically, head over now!

As you may know, I hit Motley Crue's last tour. There are a lot of pics shared by Talking Stick Arena including a few of mine! So, if you didn't get to see the All Bad Things tour, take a look -- it was pretty darned awesome.

The Galaxy Express 2.0 has a list of twenty SFR properties that should be adapted for TV or movies. I fully support this initiative! In fact, I share who I think should play whom over at My Book, The Movie. And, if you agree, or have other ideas for who should play what, hit The If List and add in your votes.

And, last but not least, for all you mystery fans, alt. Sherlock Holmes: New Visions of the Great Detective featuring my novella, "A Study in Starlets" is available for pre-order right now. The pre-order only shows the ebook, but for all those who prefer to hold the bookie wookie in their hands, physical books will be available as well and the pre-order for that should be up soon. You can also get just "A Study in Starlets", in ebook only, a well. I know, so many options!

That's it for today but, as always, more's on the way. So let's be pop culture purveyors out there. Peace out, my li'l gangstas, and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini

Where In the World is Gini? March Edition

Happy First of March!

It's been brought to my attention that I've neglected the Datebook and so all y'all have no idea where to find me in the upcoming months. So, seeing as I'm in the midst of the usual deadline madness and more (there's always more), let's see where I shall be this month.

March 12 and 13, Tucson Festival of Books -- I'm not a panelist this year but I am moderating the Kick-Ass Women of Sci-Fi Panel on Saturday, March 12, from 2:30-3:30pm, in Optical Sciences Room 410. This panel features awesome authors Yvonne Navarro, Jeffe Kenndey, Beth Cato, and Judith Tarr and I expect it to be epic. The rest of the time I'll be at Booth 108 with a ton of other awesome authors selling all the bookie wookies including Alien in Chief, The X-Files: Trust No One, Alliance Rising, and more! Museum of Robots will be there with me, and they'll have the first of their Gini Koch line to show off along with the rest of their awesome things, so if you're there, you'll be among the very first to see what's coming.

And, if you come to Booth 108 and buy anything (like, you know, one or more of the awesome books I and the many other awesome authors have for sale) you'll be getting a cool totebag, featuring Mous-Mous, which is our "booth bag" for the Festival. You know you want it, so come on down to one of the biggest book festivals in the country!

My next forays out of the Casa will be in May for Book Tour for Camp Alien and other related pursuits, and I'll have details on that for all y'all coming up in the nearish future.

ALSO, this month I'm also in the latest Kickstarter coming from UFO Press -- Unidentified Funny Objects 5, which just went live today. And, I have tuckerizations galore, including one for the cover. Yes! My story incorporates the cover image and it's gonna be so much fun. At this moment, though, only 2 of my tuckerizations are left, so if you want to get into my story, "The Problem With Poofs" (which is set in my Steampunk Alien Universe), head over right now. Even if you're not going to have your "name in lights", definitely check out this Kickstarter and get in while the getting's good. It'll be another really fun and funny anthology from a wonderful small press that I know all y'all will enjoy.

So, until then, let's be Unidentifiably Funny supporting readers out there and I'll see some of you at the Festival next month! Peace out, my li'l gangstas, and I'll catch you on the flip side!

Love,
Gini
